Woman Hit By Tram In North Melbourne Over The Weekend
A 19-year-old woman has suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a tram in North Melbourne on Saturday.
Police believe that she was trying to cross the road at the busy intersection of Boundary and Racecourse roads when she was struck at 2:30pm.
The woman was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.
A spokeswoman for Yarra Trams has said that the driver of the tram was in "a lot of shock".
"Our thoughts are with the people that have been affected by the incident," she said. "Nothing is more important than the safety of our passengers, employees and the community. We remind the community to always think about their safety when around trams."
The woman is now believed to be in a stable condition. Police are asking any witnesses to provide information by contacting Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
