UPDATE: Melbourne Dad Found Dead In Pool Of Blood
Homicide detectives have launched a murder investigation after a father's body was found in a pool of blood in Melbourne yesterday morning.
The coroner is now inspecting the body of 37-year-old Daniel Tregen, who was found deceased at around 3:40am on Thursday at a property on Cochrane Street in Mitcham.
The mother of Mr Tregan's two children, Amanda Swanson, alerted police that he had been missing however, when the body was discovered police believed that the 37-year-old had been dead "for some time".
Ms Swanson was questioned by police yesterday about the man that she described as a "lovely person", but she was later released.
"I had nothing to do with it, of course they let me go," she said.
Mr Tregent and Ms Swanson had previously been in a ten year relationship before taking a short break. The pair had only recently reunited when the tragedy occurred.
"We split for a little bit and just got back together. Things were going fine," said Ms Swanson.
Police have not yet confirmed how Mr Tregent died however they have deemed it suspicious.
Investigators confiscated evidence from the crime scene yesterday but it is unknown if any weapons were among the items taken.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Yeoman has described the crime scene as being "complicated".
"It's going to take a reasonable amount of forensic investigations to clarify the circumstances."
One year ago another man in his 30s was shot in the same house and a 76-year-old is currently in jail over the attack.
Police have said that they don't believe the two incidents are related. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
