TV Exec Fired For Insensitive Las Vegas Comments On Facebook
A senior legal aide for TV network CBS has been fired for insensitive comments surrounding the Las Vegas shooting.
Comments posted on social media led to the termination of her employment.
“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that the Repugs will ever do the right thing,” Ms Geftman-Gold posted on a friend's Facebook page.
“I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans are often Republican gun toters.”
CBS were quick to respond.
“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS,” the company said in a statement.
“Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families.”
The shooting, which has been named as the biggest in American history, ended with 59 casualties and over 500 injured as at Tuesday morning in Australia.
A 64-year-old man allegedly showered a crowd with bullets, taking aim from a 32nd floor hotel room in Las Vegas.
The crowd were gathered for a large-scale country music festival.
Our thoughts go out to all those who lost their lives or were injured in this tragic crime.
