This Is How One Melbourne Suburb Is Fighting Back

Police have said they are opposed to a group of men who have been patrolling the streets of Caroline Springs at night.

Up to 50 people per night have been sweeping across the suburb in their cars after a series of aggravated burglaries in the area.

The group has helped identify six people who have been arrested over the weekend.

Deputy Commissioner of Regional Operations Andrew Crisp said ‘’I Understand the intent around doing this, however, we have a very good police force and I do see the potential for significant challenges if we continue down this path,’’

"I would rather not see these people actively patrolling on our streets."

Melbourne has been hit by a spike of break-ins in the last few weeks, with the latest happening in Lilydale on Monday morning.

Two men were left seriously injured, with one being air lifted to hospital.
