Our Roughy Not Able To Play Indefinitely
GOLD104.3's Jarryd Roughead has suffered a recurrence of melanoma. The Hawthorn Football Club has reported that Roughy will, as a result of this, be indefinitely unable to play.
It has been reported that the 29-year-old will have another a biopsy to find out what will be the best form of treatment.
General Manager of Football Operations at the club Chris Fagan has said that Roughy went in for a regular check-up, which is were the recurrence of melanoma was detected.
“The positive is that it’s been picked up early and Jarryd is in the best hands possible.
"Jarryd’s health is the most important issue at this time. His long-term playing future is very-much secondary to that and is not even a consideration at this point in time.
"This is a private medical matter and we would ask everyone to respect Jarryd and his family’s request for privacy during this time.”
The Hawthorn Football Club will release any further updates on Roughy's progress with his approval.
