Rising Star Adam Rennie Confirmed Replacement
Craig McLachlan's understudy has been confirmed to replace the embattled actor as the lead in the Brisbane and Perth productions of the Rocky Horror Show.
Rising star Adam Rennie is earning critical acclaim after McLachlan agreed to leave the show amid allegations of sexually inappropriate behaviour and will take to the stage as Frank N Furter during the Brisbane season, which starts next week, Queensland Performing Arts Centre said.
The Adelaide Advertiser described his performance as a triumph and audience members took to Twitter describing him as "incredible" and "genuine and hilarious".
The talented musical theatre actor is a 2008 graduate of The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). His Australasian credits include Crazy for You, Jekyll & Hyde, The Producers, Prodigal and Love Never Dies. He was also lucky enough to work alongside the legendary Debbie Reynolds in Irene.
Rennie's elevation comes after three cast members from the 2014 production of the popular musical told a Fairfax Media/ABC investigation that 52-year-old McLachlan inappropriately touched them or exposed himself, allegations he denies.
