REVEALED: The "Vegetable Weapon" Used To Stab Mokbel
More details have come to light regarding the stabbing attack on Tony Mokbel in Barwon prison.
The Herald Sun is reporting that the underworld figure was "ambushed as he walked from the Barwon Prison visitor centre past a 21st birthday party held by a group of Pacific Islander inmates."
This comes after Mokbel refused an offer from authorities to move him into protection after intervening in one of the Islander inmates' rackets.
It's believed the attack happened during the birthday celebrations and the "birthday boy" was one of the chief attackers.
The 53-year-old was kicked and stomped on his head and suffered internal bleeding to the brain.
He was also reportedly stabbed by a knife hidden in a zucchini before being mocked by his attackers as he lay on the ground.
The investigation is still ongoing.
