Rail Project Worker Crushed To Death After Terrible Accident
The Rail, Tram and Bus Union have confirmed that a construction worker has died after being crushed by equipment near Mildura.
The 58-year-old man who was a worker on the Murray Basin Rail Project, died after being pinned between a bitumen roller and a trailer.
Emergency services were called to the scene and attempted to revive the man with CPR however he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident happened at a landscape suppliers when a bitumen roller, which was being loaded onto a trailer, moved without any warning and pinned the man between the roller and the trailer," Victoria Police said in a statement.
Jacinta Allan, Public Transport Minister, has also said that an investigation will be opened into the circumstances surrounding the cause of death.
"My thoughts are with his family, friends and workmates during this difficult time," she said.
Police are currently preparing a report for the coroner.
