QANTAS To Fly Their FIRST DREAMLINER Out Of Melbourne
Qantas will fly Boeing's brand new Dreamliner 787-9 between Melbourne and LA from December next year.
Yesterday the airline announced that the 236-passenger plane will fly six times a week - replacing the current 747 service which flies twice a week.
Reports say the service will be in addition to the daily Airbus A380 already flying between the cities, taking the total number of Qantas services on the route from nine to 13 return flights per week – or about 1,400 seats in total.
Qantas International CEO Gareth Evans said the Dreamliner services would be a "step change" for passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
"Melbourne - Los Angeles is one of our most popular routes... there's a lot of demand for passengers in both directions," Mr Evans said.
The first tickets will be available for sale from Christmas Day next week.
