Police Investigating After Brawl Breaks Out In Shopping Mall

Brawling youths have caused chaos in a Broadmeadows shopping centre and police are now investigating the incident.

The Herald Sun is reporting that a group of African and Lebanese youths started to hurl tables chairs and bins at each other at around 4PM.

A Gloria Jeans employee told the newspaper that the brawl started after two people who were having a coffee started arguing with another group.

“There were maybe 10 or 12 in total,” she said.

“They went at each other for about four minutes.”

It is not clear what sparked the brawl.

The fight then carried on into the middle of the busy central area of the shopping centre.

Police spokeswoman Alex Day said officers were called to reports of a brawl at the Pascoe Vale Rd shopping centre about 4.10pm.

“It’s understood two groups of young men were fighting inside the centre,” Ms Day said. “Police have been told one of the men sustained possible facial injuries.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
