The Glen Is Set To Introduce Paid Parking
The Glen shopping centre is set for a $490 million renovation.
But it will come at a cost for customers.
The Glen is now considering introducing a ticketless parking system, similar to that at Eastland Shopping Centre.
Currently, parking is free for the first three hours at Eastland and then shoppers pay if they stay longer.
The Glen spokeswoman Ali O’Shea told Leader newspapers that the centre will continue to offer free parking ‘for a period’ until they finalise the new parking system.
“The availability and ease of parking is important to our customers and we want to ensure that we have maximum parking available for our guests,” Mrs O’Shea said.
“The new Glen will offer a new and enhanced experience and we want to ensure our parking will complement this by providing an improved customer experience.”
The centre will add 550 car parking spaces when its refurb works are done, with the total spaces going to 3650.
Parking at Eastland came under fire last year when the new system had glitches that meant customers were waiting 45 minutes to leave the shopping centre.
These have since been rectified and Eastland say ‘since the installation of ticketless parking, feedback consistently indicates our guests have embraced the new system, with more than 90 per cent enjoying the benefit of free parking in the best locations at Eastland.'
