One Dead, One Seriously Injured After Serious Car Smash

One teenager is dead and three others are seriously injured after a car with stolen number plates crashed and rolled in Melbourne’s south-east on Saturday nght.

Emergency services rushed to Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, in Narre Warren South, about 7.30pm after reports of the car accident.

The Kia, which was carrying six people, sped through a red light and collided with a Holden sedan before rolling.

Two teenage men were airlifted to hospital.

One was given a blood transfusion while in the air and the other died at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Two other teenagers from the same vehicle, a 19-year-old Hampton Park man and a 15-year-old Narre Warren boy, were treated by paramedics and rushed to hospital under police guard.

The other two occupants from the car, a man and the woman, fled from the scene.

Inspector John Cormack told Channel 9 the accident was preventable.

"Tragically, the combination of youth and speed this evening leaves two young men fighting for their lives in hospital in an event that need not happen," he said.
