Melburnians Warned As Busy Easter Weekend Gets Underway

Victorian motorists have been warned to slow down and take breaks over the Easter break to help save lives, with police preparing to be out in force.

The plea comes as Operation Nexus launches on Thursday, with a high police presence across priority areas and popular destinations to stop more lives being lost on the state's roads.

"With 75 per cent of our lives lost this year being made up of country road users and motorcyclists, we cannot stress enough the importance in slowing down, driving to the conditions and taking that 15 minute break," Road Policing Command Assistant Commissioner Stephen Leane said.
