Melbourne Woman Discovers Her Own Sexual Assault On Mobile

A Melbourne woman has lived out a nightmare after discovering a horrific video on a mobile phone.

In May 2018, the victim was looking through her (now) ex-boyfriend's phone when she found a number of videos of  him and their best friend sexually assaulting her while she was unconscious.

She then sent the video to herself, and then took it to police - after which the two Bayside men in their 20s were charged.

In her victim statement, she said had “empathy in her heart” despite both offenders committing “such a horrible act”.

“I believe these men were good people once,” she said.

“However, due to life choices, I also believe they have changed and become a danger to the people around them.

“I felt safe with my partner and our best friend.

“We did everything together and we had what I thought was a special friendship that would last forever.

“I still can’t understand why this has happened and I suppose I never will.

“My life has been changed forever and so have theirs.”

Both pleaded guilty to rape. The ex-boyfriend was sentenced to a maximum term of seven years and eight months while the mutual friend was given a maximum five years and nine-month sentence.
