Principal Drags Student Across Playground By One Arm
A Melbourne principal has been captured on video dragging a young student across a concrete playground.
Footage shows Steve Warner, principal of Manor Lakes P12 school in Wyndham Vale, Melbourne dragging a student across the asphalt by their arm.
The shocking footage was obtained by Nine News and circulated online, resulting in Warner being stood down pending an independent investigation by the Minister for Education.
"This footage is appalling and concerning," Minister for Education James Merlino said in a statement to the network. "Let me be very clear, I will not tolerate this kind of completely unacceptable behaviour in our schools."
He concluded that "there will be an independent investigation into the staff member's conduct and he has been immediately stood down while this takes place."
A statement on the Manor Lakes P12 website says: "Staff, students and community at Manor Lakes P-12 College, are expected to model our four College expectations and behaviours of showing respect, valuing our community, aiming high and being safe."
