A police source has told the Herald Sun, the killer ‘didn’t care who they shot at — it’s just indiscriminate.”
Aaron Khalid Osmani, 37, was among three security guards caught up in the shooting, it is believed he was shot in the face. He died in hospital.
A second guard is fighting for his life in the Alfred Hospital.
Police have not, as yet, established a motive or spoken to any victims but have said bikies and organised crime gangs would form part of the investigation.
Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper said “I want to reassure the community straight up that the full resources of the crime department are actively investigating this matter at the moment and no stone will left unturned in terms of finding the people who carried out this act.”
“This is a horrendous act. A busy nightclub, one of the main nightclubs in one of the main entertainment precincts of Melbourne,’ Stamper continued.
Premier Daniel Andrews has said he will look at any police requests for stronger gun laws.
