Large Dawn Raids Across Many Melbourne Suburbs
An alleged drug trafficking syndicate that is worth millions of dollars has been busted in dawn raids across in Melbourne.
Senior police believe the operation against a gang of Vietnamese-Australian nations is one its biggest in Victoria in years.
Officers have described the gang as a next-generation, highly entrepreneurial group of drug traffickers”, the gang is said to have used mobile phones and encrypted apps such as WhatsApp to take orders from lower-level drug deals.
Police then believe drugs were delivered by card to street traffickers and the haul would include ice, heroin and cocaine.
Police from the Drug Taskforce arrested ten members of the gang in inner Melbourne suburbs in the north, west and south-east on Easter Monday and seized a large number of illegal drugs.
None of the men applied for bail during the brief filing hearing yesterday.
