Internet Users Warned Over "Sophisticated" Qantas Scam
The Australian Communications and Media Authority are warning internet users about a "sophisticated" scam purporting to be from Qantas.
Fake emails from what looks like the airline appear to be "almost identical" to the real thing, ACMA have revealed, explaining that customers are being lured into giving away important personal information.
"[They're] offering rewards of cash and frequent flyer points for participating in a survey," ACMA said in a Facebook post. "These emails look almost identical to a real Qantas email - look for the subject line 'Customer Satisfaction Survey, Earn up to 95 AUD Plus 1,000 bonus Qantas points.
"This is a sophisticated phishing scam that aims to steal your personal information, including your email and password, contact info and bank account details."
ACMA also took the opportunity to remind online customers of one, golden rule: "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is!"
