Great News For Fans Of Melbourne's Dakota Nightclub

Ringwood’s burnt out Dakota nightclub looks set to reopen later this year as part of a new building with a beer garden or function centre above it.

The tenants of the former nightclub’s site on Maroondah Highway want to operate a rebuilt Club Dakota on the site.

In May last year, the nightclub was destroyed by a suspicious fire.

Marroton’s Wayne Cox told the Herald Sun he was “waiting for the landlord to reinstate the building” so the club could “return to its former glory”.

The move is supported by former councillor Joe Cossari, whose company owns the site.

A rebuilt nightclub area could be called Borgio and is set to become an ‘icon for Ringwood’ that would fit in with the new Eastland Town Square.

It is hoped the new building would be constructed and operational later this year, subject to council approval.
