Girl, 13, Charged Over Serious On-Field Assault
A 13-year-old girl has been charged over an on-field assault which left her 15-year-old opponent with injuries to her face and spine during a junior footy game in Heathridge, 26kms north of Perth, Western Australia.
The Joondalup Times has reported the victim was allegedly thrown to the ground during a match between Ocean Ridge and Warwick Greenwood on Friday, June 8.
The match was part of the Year 9-11 Youth Girls Maroon competition.
The 13-year-old girl was charged with grievous bodily harm.
The injured player was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital and her injuries have been described by police as "serious".
The alleged offender will appear in the Joondalup Children’s Court on August 7.
