'Ghost' In Student's Closet Turns Out To Be A Man Hiding
An American student - who thought there was a ghost in her room - was shocked to find a man in her closet, wearing her clothes.
From handprints appearing on her bathroom walls to items of her clothing going missing without explanation, the University of North Carolina student knew something was wrong.
It wasn't until she heard what she thought sounded like a raccoon in her closet that she started to investigate. When she asked who was there, a man answered.
"I just hear rattling in my closet. It sounded like a raccoon in my closet," she said. "I'm like, 'Who’s there?' And somebody answers me. He’s like 'Oh my name is Drew,'" the student, who is identified as 'Maddie' in news reports, told Fox8.
The stranger - who was wearing her clothes - proceeded to try on her hat, and go to the bathroom to look in the mirror before telling her: "You're really pretty, can I give you a hug?"
Police allege 'Drew' is 30-year-old Andrew Clyde Swofford who has since been arrested on charges including breaking and entering a building, larceny, identity theft, and possessing stolen goods.
Maddie has told local news outlets that she is too afraid to be in her own home, and has been sleeping in her roommate's bed. After the incident, she left her college residence, and has already signed a contract for another place.
