Five-Year-Old Boy Still Fighting For Life After Being Shot
A five-year-old boy is still fighting for his life today after he was shot in the face with a rifle by his cousin.
The family of the boy are at his bedside at Lady Cilento Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Nine News reports that the boy was shot "as his 12-year-old cousin played with a .22 rifle found at a property on Belt Drive in Cottonvale yesterday".
According to the news site, a third boy was also present and witnessed the accident.
The young boy had surgery overnight, however, his condition has not improved.
Police are currently investigating the situation, and whether or not the gun was stored in the appropriate place and away from children.
According to the children's grandfather, the gun was "being kept in a place where children should not have been able to find it".
