Chilling Comment Made By Florida School Shooter Last Year
Florida teenager Nikolas Cruz has briefly appeared before court and has been formally charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder in what is being described as the worst US school shooting in over five years.
The 19-year-old ex-student of Marjory Stonemason Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida opened fire at the institution yesterday with a semi-automatic rifle. He is currently being held without bail.
During the troubled teen’s court appearance new information was revealed about his past including the fact that the FBI had been tipped off about a comment made on YouTube that is believed to have come from the suspect.
The comment was made last year by a YouTube account named ‘Nikolas Cruz’ and said, “I’m going to be a professional school shooter.”
YouTube vlogger, Ben Bennight claims to have brought the suspicious comment to the FBI’s attention. However, FBI Special Agent Rob Laskey said that the agency was unable to uncover any personal information about the person who made the comment at the time.
“No other information was included with that comment which would indicate a time, location, or true identity of the person who made the comment,”said Agent Laskey during a press conference.
“The FBI conducted data reviews, checks, but was unable to further identify the person who actually made the comment.” T
he YouTube account operated by Cruz has since been suspended for violating YouTube’s policy on violence.
The specific motive of the shooter has not yet been confirmed by police, however, it is known that Cruz was expelled from the school and that he was recently orphaned.
