Charges Laid Over Fatal Melbourne Hit And Run

A Melbourne man accused of crashing a stolen car into another vehicle, killing a nurse, and then running off, has been charged.

The 20-year-old had been dodging police since a crash at Oakleigh on Monday which killed cardiac nurse Lynda Hansen.

He was arrested on Thursday evening at a Blackburn South property.

The man has been charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, failure to stop after a collision with a fatality, failure to render assistance after a fatal collision, theft of a motor vehicle and driving while disqualified.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Ms Hansen's family said the beloved 53-year-old was a "very caring and family orientated" person.

"Lynda leaves behind many shocked and devastated friends and family members," the family said in a statement on Tuesday.
