A Melbourne School Teacher Has Been Arrested For 'Grooming'
A teacher from Berwick’s Beaconhills College has been arrested and charged with sexual offences relating to a student.
Parents have today received a letter from the headmaster of the Christian school advising that Police had arrested the man yesterday.
The unit working on the case told Leader newspapers is a 42-year-old man from Narre Warren South.
In a letter to parents, headmaster Tony Sheumack said the teacher has been charged with one count of grooming and one count of an indecent act with a child under the age of 16.
“We are doing everything we can to fully co-operate with Victoria Police in this matter,” he said.
“As it is now before the courts, for legal reasons we are unable to discuss any detailed information about this case.
“Our immediate priority is the wellbeing of the student involved and of course the well-being of all the students at the school.”
The headmaster reiterated that the college has a wellbeing program in place to ensure all students feel safe and supported to talk about concerns.
It is believed the teacher has been suspended.
