Finally! How To Brew The PERFECT Cup Of Tea Revealed
There is nothing better than a hot cup of tea, especially during winter, it's like there's something magical about it almost!
However, die-hard tea drinkers all have different methods when it comes to brewing up what they think is the perfect pot of tea.
Debate has long raged on steps such as how long you boil the water, when you should add the milk, how long do you leave the tea bag in for, or if you should even use tea bags!
Now, a scientist from Britain (the spiritual home of tea drinkers!) has revealed what he believes are five simple steps to creating the ultimate cuppa!
Dr Stuart Farrimond appeared on BBC program Inside the Factory with some handyy tips.
He claims the longer a tea is brewed, the higher both its caffeine and antioxidant content.
A tea brewed for 30 seconds contains 35 milligrams of caffeine, while a five-minute brew increased the figure to 50 milligrams.
He said that leaving the teabag in for the same period also doubled the antioxidant level.
Dr Farrimond says:
"Tea is a great source of antioxidants and these are natural substances that our body uses to help fight disease so it is important you leave it to brew"
Dr Farrimond's Four Rules For The Perfect Cup Of Tea
1) Never drink tea out of a Styrofoam cup, as it absorbs the flavour
2) Drink from a red or pink mug as it makes the drink taste sweeter
3) Filter the water so it removes the calcium and magnesium residue and prevents scum from forming
4) Brew for five minutes EXACTLY
