We've Been Cooking Pasta Wrong This ENTIRE Time

It genuinely goes against everything we've ever been told, but apparently there's a completely different way we could - and should - be cooking our spaghetti.

According to Harold McGee, there's a much more efficient way to be preparing pasta than boiling water in a pot and adding in your chosen product.

Actually, using a pot is the first mistake; your tagliatelle is going to be much more at home in a frying pan, believe it or not.

Bear with us.

Then you're going to want to put the pasta in the pan before you add two litres of water.

The amount of water you'll need will depend on how much pasta you're cooking, but you should be covering the pasta by about 1.5 cm.

Oh, and it HAS to be cold water, by the way; it'll prevent everything clumping together.

Then it's just a matter of cranking the hob up to a medium-high heat and cooking for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally and voila!

Pasta cooked in half the time, with half the effort.

You are SO welcome.
