The Secret Trick That Slashes Mug Cake Calories By Half

With the cold weather coming we need something warm and comforting to cheer us up. Well what if that something was also guilt-free!

'Mug cake', tastes like soft, gooey brownies fresh out of the oven and they only take 2 minutes to make! The other plus is that you make individual serves rather than a whole tray that tempts you throughout the week. 

This recipe for 'Mug Cake' comes from Candela Couture and can you believe, has half the calories of brownies!

The secret trick is to replace regular oil or butter with applesauce! It tastes just as good and is much better for you. As well as using an all-natural cocoa powder rather than a pre-made mix which is loaded with sugar. 

Ingredients

4 Tablespoons Flour(can be whole wheat)
4 Tablespoons Splenda or stevia(replaces sugar)
2 Tablespoons Unsweetened/natural Cocoa powder (Note: don’t use cocoa mix or quik, it shouldn’t have any sugar)
2 Tablespoons applesauce (replaces the oil or butter)
2 Tablespoons Water
Dash of salt
Mug
Microwave

Method

Step 1: Add the sugar substitute, flour, cocoa and salt to the mug first. Then add the applesauce and water to the dry mix. Make sure there are no clumps

Step 2: Microwave on high for about a minute. The mixture should rise but the middle should still be somewhat wet when done.

Step 3: let it cool & dig in! you can add dark chocolate chips or a scoop of low fat yogurt to the top to make it a stunning sundae as well!
