The One Thing Chef Gordon Ramsey Will NEVER, Ever Eat
Gordon Ramsey likes to think of himself as the authority when it comes to good - and bad - food.
So when I heard there was one thing he had vowed to NEVER eat, I simply had to know what it was - and why. It turns out the food he swears off, pardon the pun, is aeroplane food.
It’s somewhat ironic, seeing as Ramsey owns a restaurant at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 called ‘Gordon Ramsey’s Plane Food’.
However, he has revealed that he loves to have a huge meal before he flies, but would never eat on the plane, because he knows too much. 'There's no ****ing way I eat on planes,' he said.
'I worked for airlines for 10 years, so I know where this food's been and where it goes, and how long it took before it got on board.'
He was of course referring to his time as a culinary adviser to Singapore Airlines when they were creating their in-flight menu.
He worked for the company for about a decade, and in-flight meals under his tenure included pan-seared salmon escalopes, and tender rib eye steaks in red wine sauce.
But what does he eat before a flight?
Well he dines at his own restaurant, or with a ‘light’ snack at an Italian bar if not.
'A nice selection of Italian meats, a little glass of red wines, some sliced apples or pears with some parmesan cheese, I'm like a pig in shit.’
