6 Of The Best Places To Get Fish And Chips In Melbourne

s the nights (slowly) start to get longer and the weather (even more slowly) starts to get warmer, it's time to discuss EVERYONE'S favourite summer dinner: the classic fish n chips!

There truly is nothing better than the greasy, salty, battered fish that is consumed by all over summer and in particular, down on the sand at the beach. So, we've compiled a list of the top 6 places we think serve the best fish and chips.. but if we've got it totally wrong, please let us know by commenting below and we'll check out your recommendation also!

This joint is great because it doesn't leave you feeling super greasy and guilty. It opened in 2006 and since then has had more store openings and made a serious name for themselves! While it's a tad more expensive than others and service can be slow, the quality of the fish and chips including the oils used to cook them really make up for it. For the health nuts, they serve a 'superfood salad' with quinoa, broccoli, spinach, nuts and yoghurt too!

Windsor, Fitzroy, Hawthorn.

2. TANK

The best thing about Lygon street's Tank, is that they only use local produce whether it be from Australia or New Zealand. They have a very healthy option too, with grilled fish, brown rice and salad as a meal option.

Carlton & Emporium.

Friday lunch happiness. Grab a friend and get some fish and fries. What could be better. #FridayFish

The Fish Market serve generous portions of local gummy comes wrapped in a light crisp blanket of golden batter that isn't as greasy as others. The Fish Market also serve the newest trendy chip: the sweet potato chip.

This fish and chippery have been serving up to thornbury residents for more than 70 years now. The menu is simple, the food is honest and the prices are fair. They are also known for their super burgers which include pineapple, beetroot, bacon, eggs, cheese and onion.

With an amazing view over the Bay, Cerberus is not your typical fish and chip joint! It has a relaxed fine dining setting, friendly service and reasonable prices. Perfect place to go for a classy take on fish and chips!

Black Rock.

Not only is KIWI FISH conveniently located in East Melbourne, they make AWESOME burgers, have the perfect batter and when you order over the phone, they are true to time so your food is still HOT HOT HOT! The serving staff are known to be very friendly and the fact that the fish is freshly stored in display fridges is a big tick for customers.
