MELBOURNE DAY

MELBOURNE DAY INVITES ALL MELBOURNIANS TO CELEBRATE 182 MARVELLOUS YEARS ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 27, 2017 – IN THE LEAD UP TO THE CITY’S OFFICIAL BIRTHDAY ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30, 2017.

We’re celebrating with a range of entertainment at the FREE Melbourne Day Family Festival and Concert at Docklands from noon to 3.02 pm. Yes, 182 minutes to mark 182 years!

The activities at Victoria Harbour include an all-ages concert headlined by the ultimate ‘80s party band Absolutely 80s featuring Melbourne-born music legends Brian Mannix (Uncanny Xmen), Scott Carne (Kids in the Kitchen) and Ally Fowler (The Chantoozies) performing their biggest hits!

Supporting Absolutely 80s will be fellow Melbourne music legends Wendy Stapleton and Paul Norton from Wendy and The Rockets. Also taking the stage is Peta Evans-Taylor from The Voice 2015.

Other activities include:

  •         Sunday Docklands Market, expanded for the celebrations with more than 70 stalls and bigger variety. Held on Harbour Esplanade from 10am – 5pm.
  •         Gourmet food trucks
  •         Climb aboard the schooner Enterprize, the much-loved Melbourne Day icon and replica of the ship that brought the first settlers in 1835
  •         Meet the 2017 Junior Lord Mayor of Melbourne (to be announced on 24 August)
  •         Children’s face painting
