Join Hugh Sheridan and an all-star line-up of Australian musicians for a special one-off charity event to support disaster relief in Nepal. A great collection of his musical friends have agreed to jump on board for the cause. Australia’s leading soprano Marina Prior will take to the stage, contemporary pop superstar Kate Miller-Heidke will serenade, Lisa McCune is lending the night her voice and Gold Logie credentials, Caroline O’Connor is stepping from the stage of ‘Anything Goes’, the acclaimed cabaret artist Meow Meow and the iconicRhonda Burchmore round out the line-up. The talented musical director of Strictly Ballroom, Daniel Edmonds, will lead a great band to ensure a sensational night of music.
As well an enlisting this great line up, Hugh personally secured the support of some major institutions for the event in Arts Centre Melbourne, Opera Australia and Dainty Group, all of whom have made great contributions so that we can maximize the money raised for Nepal. Plus all of the musicians are generously performing for free and so 100% of profits will flow directly to Nepal via World Vision who have been on the ground in Nepal for more than twenty years.
"On April 25 this year a 7.9 earthquake in Nepal unfolded a massive tragedy, killing an incomprehensible 9,000 people and leaving 400,000 homeless or in need of immediate emergency relief.
Many of you may know that my little brother Zach was trekking on Mt Everest when the earthquake struck, and it was 4 days before we got word that he was alive. It was another 6 days before he made it back to me in Kathmandu.
While waiting for Zach I did relief work in the worst hit areas of Kathmandu, the devastation I witnessed and the courage of the Nepalese people have had an extremely profound effect on my life. I guess it's hard to understand why we are so fortunate and others who have so little to begin with, have now lost what little they had. I'm determined to let my friends in Nepal know that we care and that we are thinking of them. I've rallied my talented friends and musicians together, along with Opera Australia and Arts Centre Melbourne and we're going to do "A Night For Nepal" - a night of music to celebrate the gift of life and remember those who are in need.
Having been an ambassador for World Vision for 5 years, I've decided to partner with them for this event. 100% of funds from the benefit concert will go to the World Vision Nepal Earthquake appeal.
All of us are donating our time at no cost and we invite everyone to come along and support our benefit in what will be a wonderful night!” Hugh Sheridan
