In 1987, Whitney Houston’s second album, Whitney, entered the US chart at number one, making her the first woman in chart history to simultaneously enter and top the Billboard album charts. On that same day, she also became the first female artist to top the chart with four consecutive singles when “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” hit number one.
