Why It's Wrong To Change Profile Pictures To The French Flag

Following the Paris Attacks, Facebook released a new feature where users could temporarily change their profile picture to the colours of the French flag. 

This was done so that Facebook users could show their support for France and their sorrow for the deaths caused by terrorist attacks on November 13th. 

However not everyone has updated their DP and the reason why will make you think... 

Parisienne resident Charlotte Farhan summed up her reservations about the option to change perfectly:

Charlotte's post highlights a valid point. While the attacks on Paris were culturally shocking, attacks take place around the world every day, killing innocent people everywhere. 

Farhran told The Independent the reason she felt so passionately about this was because she and her husband, a Jordanian-British Muslim man, have lots of family in Palestine: "I felt like I would be very hypocritical if I took advantage of Facebook's flag situation because I felt that it would show that I was not inclusive with my sympathy".
