Netflix Have 175 Horror Flicks To Scream Your Lungs Out To

Whether you get into Halloween or not, it’s a bloody good excuse to put the prestige dramas and documentaries aside and binge-watch some stuff that requires you to wear your brown pants.

Right now, there are currently 175 movies listed as horror on Netflix Australia.

Here are 10 that caught our attention...

It Follows

After a sexual encounter, a carefree teenager finds that she is the latest receiver of a fatal curse which follows and haunts the victim till their death.

Gerald’s Game

While trying to spice up their marriage in their remote lake house, Jessie must fight to survive when her husband dies unexpectedly, leaving her handcuffed to their bed frame.

The Nightmare

This documentary(!) explores the horror of sleep paralysis, a temporary disorder in which the sufferer, trapped between waking and sleeping, cannot move.

IT

What could be more Stephen King than a bunch of pre-teens riding their bikes around a small American town trying to solve a mystery? That same story, but with an evil clown that wants to scare them all to death. Literally.

28 Weeks Later

If you saw 28 Days Later, this is the sequel.  Set 6 months after the events of the first film, we see the efforts of NATO military forces to salvage a safe zone in London, BUT the consequence of two young siblings breaking protocol to find their infected mother, and the resulting reintroduction of the Rage Virus to the safe zone. Great.

The Ritual

Four UK lads decide to honour their late friend’s memory by hiking through the wilds of Sweden, only to find themselves lost, injured, and at each other’s throats. But things go from bad to really bad… the tagline of the film says it all: They Should’ve Gone To Vegas.

Sharknado

A freak storm brings hundreds of vicious, man-eating sharks ashore in Los Angeles and a group of friends struggle to steer clear of their violent and destructive path. A modern-day classic.

What We Do In The Shadows

If you loved Flight of the Conchords, you’re going to go bananas for this. this hilarious horror mockumentary explores New Zealand's awkward underground of vampires, werewolves and witches.

Creep

This has been described as ‘An unnerving watch that that will make you want to delete Tinder, Uber, and Airtasker’. The trailer is super unsettling, particularly using that ‘found footage’ technique, plus a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – a solid scary combo.

Jennifer’s Body

OK, so this was written by Oscar-winning Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody and features Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried and is littered with sassy one-liners and has been described as an underrated horror-comedy gem.
