Oh Dear! Masterchef George Calombaris' Year Just Got Worse

Masterchef judge George Calombaris has pleaded guilty to common assault following an altercation at the A-League grand final earlier this year.

An investigation was launched by police to investigate the alleged assault, which took place just as the game came to an end a man shouted to Calombaris: 'Pay your staff, you dodgy b*****d,' moments after Victory lost the match 4-2 on penalties.

Calombaris said in a statement att the time that his reaction was to the fan yelling abuse about his family.

'I am really disappointed with what occurred last night,' he said.

'I regret the way in which I reacted, I am disappointed that I let it get to me, and I sincerely apologise for offending anyone.

'While I am not proud of my reaction to the situation, I was offended by a spectator yelling out abusive and derogatory comments about my family.'

He will be sentenced later this month.
