Neighbours Star Ian Smith Reveals Devastating News
He is best known as Harold Bishop on Neighbours and has quickly become one of the most loved characters on Australian TV.
But Ian Smith has revealed that the has been struggling for depression for years after he discovered, at age 54, that he was adopted.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 78-year-old actor admitted that his depression is looming large and his life but he is managing it with medication and the support of his wife Gail.
'The black dog still walks with you but he walks beside you as more of a faithful companion,' Ian said. 'I'm taking too much medication for him to have too much bite these days.'
Ian was 54 when he found out he had been adopted, his adoptive mother Connie admitted to him just hours before her death.
Ian continued to say 'I had basically been living a lie for 54 years. 'I couldn't even look in the mirror because I didn't know who I was.'
