New Eric Clapton Vinyl Box Set Of Live Albums
A new vinyl box set featuring the four live albums that Eric Clapton put out during the first decade of his solo career will be released on March 25.
The Live Album Collection 1970-1980 includes remastered, high-quality vinyl versions of 1973's Derek & the Dominos in Concert and Eric Clapton's Rainbow Concert, 1975's E.C. Was Here and 1980's Just One Night.
In Concert was recorded in October 1970 during a pair of shows that the short-lived band played at the famed Fillmore East in New York City. Among the songs featured on the album are renditions of the Derek and the Dominos classic "Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad," Clapton's solo hit "Let It Rain" and Eric's Blind Faith gem "Presence of the Lord."
Eric Clapton's Rainbow Concert features performances from a star-studded event that was held at London's Rainbow Theatre in January 1973. Clapton was joined at the show by Pete Townshend, Steve Winwood, Ronnie Wood and Jim Capaldi, among others. The album includes versions of "After Midnight," "Presence of the Lord," Cream's "Badge," Traffic's "Pearly Queen" and Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing."
E.C. Was Here was recorded at concerts Clapton played in 1974 and 1975 in a few different cities. It features renditions of "Presence of the Lord" and another memorable Blind Faith tune, "Can’t Find My Way Home," as well as the Bobby "Blue" Bland hit "Further on Up the Road."
Just One Night features songs recorded during a series of shows Eric played at Tokyo's famed Budokan Theatre in December 1979. The double album peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200, and eventually was certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies. It's track list includes versions of the Clapton hits "Lay Down Sally," "Wonderful Tonight," "After Midnight" and "Cocaine."
The Live Album Collection 1970-1980 is a companion to The Studio Album Collection 1971-1980, an eight-disc vinyl package released in January that features all the studio albums Clapton issued during that period.
Eric also will be releasing a brand-new studio album titled I Still Do on May 20.
