Gene Simmons Wants To Trademark 'Devil's Horns'
Gene Simmons invented the ‘devil horn’ rock salute, according to Gene Simmons.
And now, he wants to trademark it.
Laugh all you want, but he’s deadset - he’s even filed an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
In the document, the co-frontman of Kiss claims the ‘hand gesture with the index and small fingers extended upward and the thumb extended perpendicular’, was first used on November 14th, 1974 while touring.
He wants to trademark it for “entertainment, namely, live performances by a musical artist; personal appearances by a musical artist.”
However, John Lennon previously used the gesture in 1969 on the album cover of Yellow Submarine.
It’s also been highlighted that it also means ‘I love you’ in American Sign Language.
