Cheap Trick in Rock Hall Petition

Unlike Deep Purple and Chicago, who are not performing with some former members when they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, Cheap Trick doesn't have that problem as the band will play nice with former drummer Bun E. Carlos. But, the induction isn't free of controversy.

An online petition was started at Change.org pleading with Hall chairman Jann Wenner to not allow Kid Rock to induct the Tricksters. It reads: "February 23rd, 2016 a date which will live in infamy, the music lovers of the United States of America were deliberately attacked by forces within the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame seeking to cheapen the induction of Cheap Trick by allowing the honor to be performed by 'American rapper-turned-trailer park Bob Seger' Kid Rock.

"We, the people of the United States of America with ears, firmly request that you strip Kid Rock, the human manifestation of everything 'Idiocracy' predicted, from attending the ceremony, much less inducting one of the most iconic, influential and hardest-working bands in all of rock & roll.

"That's right, by signing this petition, we make it clear that we would prefer that he wasn't even allowed into the building.

"In his absence, we humbly suggest that you consider, well, anybody, because giving the honor to a severed finger in a shot glass would make more sense at this point."

While Kid Rock is no stranger to the Hall, having inducted Aerosmith in 2001 and Seger in 2004, there are many more worthy candidates such as Joe Perry, Slash, Dave Grohl and Billy Corgan. This year's ceremony is April 8th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Joining Cheap Trick, Deep Purple and Chicago as inductees are Steve Miller and N.W.A.
