The Titanic Menu to Be Auctioned

A menu from the Titanic -- an actual printed page that first-class passengers were handed before lunch on April 14th, 1912 -- a day before the ship sunk after crashing into an iceberg -- will be auctioned September 30th by Invaluable.com. Estimates are that it could go for $70,000.

According to Reuters, the page was saved by first-class passenger Abraham Salomon and is signed on the back by Isaac Gerald Frauenthal, a passenger from New York who likely had eaten lunch with him that day.

The selections included Grilled Mutton Chops, Chicken a la Maryland, Corned Beef with vegetables and dumplings. There was also a buffet -- with items ranging from salmon and shrimp to roast beef, veal and ham pie and corned ox tongue, plus a selection of cheeses.
