Matt Gawthrop And Luke Stewart Crowned MKR Champions
Two cricket mates have turned their once-average partnership on the pitch into a $250,000 victory after being crowned winners of the 10th season of My Kitchen Rules.
Matt Gawthrop, 27, and Luke Stewart, 28, bowled the 10 judges over with their modern Australian with an Italian twist, five-course meal, scoring 92 out of 100.
The pair, who once played first-grade cricket for Newcastle, began their attack with confit salmon and peas before plating up duck ravioli with wild mushroom for 100 family, friends, contestants and judges.
The third course kept pace, featuring barramundi with roasted fennel, before knocking it out for six with beef cheek with parsnip mash, and a peach bellini for the finale.
"Our experience has been nothing short of a miracle. From where we've come from, to where we are now, this is something I'll never forget. This is going to change our lives forever," Mr Stewart said of the win.
The pair previously won the People's Choice at the final location challenge and came second on the ultimate instant restaurant ladder.

Four points separated the duo from Sydney socialites Ibby Moubadder, 30, and Romel Kouyan, 42, who took a spice journey during the show's first all-male grand final battle.
The pair served a kibbeh nayeh with nigella seed lavosh, a Lebanese shish barak with pine nuts before plating a chargrilled octopus with muhammara.
The flavours kept coming with spiced kangaroo, freekeh and labneh before a dessert of knafeh with pistachio ice cream.
"We're not ashamed of losing because I'm so proud of what we have done," Mr Kouyan said.
