Dave Grohl Says Foo Fighters Were "Kicked Off" Emmys Telecas

Foo Fighters' documentary series Sonic Highways won two Emmy Awards, and the band was going to celebrate with a performance on last night's telecast. However, Dave Grohl says their performance was cut from the schedule.

"We were supposed to play on the Emmys, and we were gonna play on the Emmys, but they kicked us off," Grohl tells TMZ. When asked why, the Foo frontman responded, "I can't tell you."

A rep for Foo Fighters tells TMZ that the band was all set to play the Emmys, but Fox, which aired the awards show, "refused to allow the band to play a full song."

As he was being interviewed, Grohl was walking using a cane as he continues to recover from a broken leg, which he suffered after falling off the stage at a Foo Fighters show in Sweden in June. When asked how his leg was doing, Grohl said, "It's going pretty good."

Sonic Highways, an eight-part documentary series that followed Foo Fighters as they recorded their album Sonic Highways in studios across America, won for outstanding sound editing for nonfiction programming and outstanding sound mixing for nonfiction programming at the Creative Arts Emmys, which were held on September 12.
