Christian Bale Has Packed On The Pounds For His New Movie
If you looked up "method actor" in the dictionary, there should be a photo of Christian Bale.
The Dark Knight star is the King of throwing himself wholeheartedly into his roles; he famously lost close to 30 kilos for 2003's The Machinist, shocking viewers with a skeletal frame achieved by sticking to "water, an apple and one cup of coffee per day."
Six months later, though, he had packed it all back on again - and then some - bulking up 45 kilos for his lead role in Batman Begins with a high-protein diet and plenty of hectic gym time.
And now he's back at it again, stepping out at the Toronto International Film Festival looking close-to-unrecognisable with a heavier frame and dyed eyebrows.
The transformation is for his upcoming biopic Backseat, in which Bale takes on the role of former Vice President Dick Cheney in the years following 9/11.
According to Variety, Bale's "trick" for putting on the weight isn't so much as a trick as something we do on the regular - he ate a lot of pies.
Sounds like a heck of a lot more fun than that apple-a-day stuff, right?
